Tasting North London: Things to do in Little Venice and Camden Town

12:50:00

Little Venice
Just north of Paddington station, there is a picturesque corner with canals and narrowboats which are travelling between Little Venice and Camden Lock.
The name should not mislead because it has little or nothing to do with Venice and I have been there recently. Instead, it reminds me a little bit of Amsterdam canals. Making no comparisons, I believe it worth a visit and the positive fact is that it represent  an opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The atmosphere is really quiet and relax and you may take a walk along the canal from Camden Lock  to Little Venice crossing Regent Canal and Regent Park.

Regent Park
It is one of the Royal Parks in London and it includes the London Zoo and the Regent's University London and the largest outdoor sports area in central London. Additionally, world-famous garden "Queen's Mary Gardens" is located inside the park.

On the northern side is Primrose Hill, definitely my favourite viewpoint. On the summit, it is possible to admire a stunning view across Central London.
It is also located a stone with a William Blake inscription said:"I have conversed with the spiritual sun. I saw him on Primrose Hill".
Primrose Hill is also a popular meeting point for young people who are used to spend time on the hill having a beer or a picnic and enjoying an amazing view.

Camden Town and Camden Lock
I can not find just one adjective to describe this district. It is young, dynamic, bustling, eccentric, alternative, vibrant and much more as the people you could meet here.

Visitors and locals gather here to taste international cuisine from the various street food trucks spread in the market or to get lost in the labyrinth of open-air markets and other stores in Camden Lock.

Camden is also famous for its music scene. It is plenty of venues for listening to live music. For example, Roundhouse is a really pleasant theatre and music venue with a lot of events going on during the year. In August it houses "Camden Beach", its terrace becomes Londoners' summer destination where to have a drink sitting on a beach chair on the sand when the English weather allows it.
